Burnout Psychology | Burnout Counselling Brisbane

BURNOUT CAN MANIFEST IN VARIOUS WAYS, AND THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS MAY DIFFER FROM PERSON TO PERSON.

  • Low energy, motivation or mood

    Feeling isolated, lost or trapped

Feeling cynical or disengaged from work

    Decreased life satisfaction

    Procrastination or low productivity

    Irritability

    Reduced empathy

    Reduced sense of achievement

    Feeling exhausted or drained

    Overwhelmed - emotionally overloaded

    Disrupted sleep

Physical responses like headaches and body pain

    Reduced confidence in one’s abilities

It's essential to recognise these signs early on and take proactive steps to address burnout, such as seeking support from mental health professionals, adjusting work-life balance, and implementing stress management strategies.

SHANNON USES A VARIETY OF EVIDENCE-BASED TECHNIQUES, INTERVENTIONS, AND DRAWS ON LIVED EXPERIENCES TO HELP CLIENTS OVERCOME BURNOUT.

  • I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches to support your recovery from burnout, always tailored to what fits you best. At the heart of my work is a gentle invitation toward reflection and deep self-awareness—so you’re not just supported now, but resourced for whatever lies ahead.

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you untangle from unhelpful thoughts, reconnect with your values, and take meaningful steps forward—even in the presence of discomfort.

    • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) fosters emotional safety and self-kindness, especially when inner criticism or shame are present.

    • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) supports you to slow down, tune in, and respond to life’s challenges with greater steadiness and presence.

Together, these approaches can help you come home to yourself—with clarity, care, and the capacity to move forward.

Therapy is a gift. It is a choice to finally be heard, understood and supported.
